The Oil Cleansing Method and why it'll change your skin forever!

The Oil Cleansing Method - you may or may not have heard about it before. I personally, have been raving about it for years.

I've written blogs about it  and have even filmed a video about oil cleansing.

I started my love affair with oil after using cleansing oils during my time in a skin clinic. They were oils, yes- but highly deodorised and filled with chemicals. So when I switched to a true, pure oil (after much research mind you) I was unsure of the results.

Sweet Almond Oil was the first oil I ever used to cleanse with. It was an easy choice; readily available, on hand and I'd used it on my body many times. Then I moved to coconut oil, and alternated that with sesame oil.

Now as I'm getting older and my skin is changing, I need to ensure it's getting all of the nutrients it needs from a range of oils. One stand alone oil just wasn't cutting it.

So, I decided to crete a blend. And it's beautiful.

Oil cleansing sounds counter-intuitive, especially for oily and acne prone skin- putting oil on oil?! Strange right?

But think about this.

When you cleanse your skin with a commercial cleanser, it strips your skin of nourishing and essential oils and alters the pH balance needed to protect and heal your skin.

It's often likened to 'squeaky clean' skin.

If your skin:

  • Feels tight after cleansing
  • Itches
  • Is blotchy and red
  • Doesn't feel 'right'
  • Looks scaly and dry

Then oil cleansing could be for you.

It's potent and super effective, especially if:

  • You suffer regular breakouts no matter what you do
  • You have dry cheeks and an oily t-zone
  • You have broken capillaries
  • Your skin is susceptible to chemicals
  • You're just starting to use natural products

The first thing to know, is that oil won't make your skin oily.

Our skin naturally produces oil, called sebum.

Sebum is released through our pores and helps to protect and lubricate the skin, and if that pore is filled with dirt or bacteria (and pore-clogging makeup), pimples may pop up.

However, when you've cleansed using a soap or detergent based product, it can upset the skins natural sebum production, causing your skin to produce MORE sebum to counteract the loss of oil.

It's a vicious cycle!

Cleansing with oil doesn't produce more oil- it in fact, helps maintain your skins own balance of oil.

I've worked with thousands of women and men all over the World and shared with them this amazing style of looking after their skin. It's yielded amazing results and I know you'll love it too!
